Links and Resources

Equipment and software We Us

Microphone – Fifine K688 Dynamic microphone

  • Like we mentioned in the podcast, we chose to go with a dynamic mic because it wouldn’t pick up as much noise in the area around us as a condenser mic. The down side being – so make sure to take your recording environment into account when choosing a mic.

Data Storage – Samsung T7 SSD

  • Also, Crucial SSD are another good brand we’ve tried. It’s a good idea to store, at the very least, a copy of your podcast material on a drive separate from your computer. That being said, doing this can be expensive and storage isn’t really something you want to cut corners on. Another alternative is using a cloud storage services like google drive. (Definitely do this if you’re working with a partner. It make share information easier)

Hosting – Spotify for Podcasters

  • It’s also important to consider where you’ll be hosting your podcast. There are several free and paid options. Spotify for Podcasters was the easiest (and cheapest) option. It allowed for easy distribution of the podcast on all the platforms we wanted to be on and provides basic analytics. Most importantly because its free to sign up it let us try out podcasting in a way that didn’t require a lot of up front investment. Plus if we every want the features that one of the paid hosting services have to offer its easy to transfer over.
  • When it comes to paid hosting we hear Buzzsprout is popular

Website – WordPress

  • Depending on where you host your podcast you might have the option to setup a website with them. Spotify for podcasters doesn’t have that option so we set up a website using WordPress. Here you’ll find a free tier and a paid tier. It’s a bit more work than using one of the paid website services but it serves its purpose.
  • An easier but paid alternative is square space

Editing – Apple Student software Bundle

  • Logic Pro (podcast editing)
  • Final Cut Pro (reels/ tiktok editing)
  • Note a popular alternative is audacity but we don’t have much experience with this

Planning episode – Apple Notes

  • Notion is good too. Carol uses this to plan her content. It also allows you to collaborate with others
